an untitled poem
By: The Straight-faced Clown: AKA - lhw on ILP

fossils in the cliffside
have a way of roaring back to life

in spite these many eons long extinct
flashing their teeth w/ the way
they catch the light just so

an unfathomable hunger that can never be fed
inspiring mortal terror in the present living
petrified w/ bottomless dread

we shudder as we try to imagine
what might’ve been
had we been on the menu

of these aptly-named terrible lizards
now forever entombed in rock
