Existance before the big bang
By: BG Stroup

Actually our souls have existed since the big bang, and perhaps even before that. We don't know, because of our lack of knowing when or how 'absolute nothingness' exists. Actually, our entire lives, though unbeknownst to us, became entirely predictable to this master designer.

Let me offer an explanation, which led to my conclusion. My conclusion was reached long before Steven Hawking, perhaps the greatest physicist of our time, made the following announcement.
"Reduction of the rate of expansion by one part in 1012 at the time when the temperature of the Universe was 1010 K would have resulted in the Universe’s starting to recollapse when its radius was only 1/3000 of the present value and the temperature was still 10,000 K.6.'

This is astounding precision, carried on through the violence of the big bang and the unimaginable actions of the universe, up to and including the present time. This should lead by deductive reasoning to a belief in 'intelligent design, by abductive, or perhaps even inductive reasoning, to a belief in an intellect of unimaginable proportions.

Most members of the sciences are most reluctant to fully enter into theology. For instance, I do not believe that Steven hawking is a student of theology. Due to the extreme pressures of his work it is unlikely that he ever will be.

A scientist, picking up a Bible or any other authoritative book that is supposed to be divine concerning some other theistic religion and giving it a cursory reading, will not be convinced. Barring some kind of 'Damascus road" experience, which might conceivably happen, She will come away with the conviction that She could never become a theist.

If a scientist would undertake a serious study of theology, and barring her sudden conversion to one of the other theistic religions, she would discover that professors of Jewish and Greek literature will vouch for the authenticity of the Bible, whether or not they believe all of what it says themselves. Then if one proceeds deeper into the theology of the bible, studying the prophecies, they might be led in a Christian direction.

In my own case, I did not become a theist until middle age, and then became a Christian theist five years later. I decided that Christianity was the only theistic religion that fit all of my requirements, and that I was very comfortable with it. That is why certain statements like those of Steven Hawking only serve to solidify my belief. He has studied his subject, and therefore his conclusion is reasonable. If he had made a statement about theology, which he has not studied, it would have no effect on me at all.

I was a rather reluctant convert, turning from years of unbelief, when I was an atheist, and later when I was an agnostic. I was also fearful of my peers, admitting that I had changed my mind, and now professed my belief in Christianity, was a very sticky point for me.

When a Baby is born, breath enters into it and it becomes a 'living soul.' If that baby comes to a knowledge of salvation through Christ, very easily and in early life, and even if she receives no formal education whatsoever, she is just as much a child of God as a scientist, who came to Christianity after long and agonizing study and reasoning. It's beautiful, and it fits.

During these many years, since I have been a Christian, I have still had my moments of doubt. It's scary, to listen to an atheist and wonder if she might be right. Take it from one who knows though, it's not as scary as being an atheist listening to a Christian, and wondering if she, might be right.

I am 78 now, and if I am right, I have lost nothing, and gained immeasurably. If I am wrong, I still have lost nothing, since the 78 years would have passed anyway.
